So...how did i get here - dealing with fertility issues you may ask.....sit back and let me tell ya...
I married my DH (dear husband...or damn husband, depending on the day :) ) in 2006. I have always wanted to have kids, DH has not always keen on the idea.....we talked and well, how could he not want to have lil' curly haired, tree hugging monkeys? (here on out will refer to them as monkeys -that will be explained on another post)
Anyways, we booked a trip in December 2007 to go to Hawaii and that was the official start of our journey to parenthood. Of course, being new to baby making, i just assumed that since we were starting in December, i would be pregnant in December and we would be bringing home a sweet little forever souvenir from Hawaii....yah, didn't quite work out that way....
Fast forward to October 2008 - went in for my girl dr. apt and asked some questions and all of a sudden i'm making appointments to make sure tubes aren't blocked and being told i should go on crazy meds to pump out eggs and all these crazy things...i was like time out....let's just relax here....
December 2008 - had a HSG - now, for those of you who are lucky enough to have never had an HSG....trust me when i say i wouldn't even want my worst enemy to endure such a procedure.
Basically, you go on antibiotics for 3 days, and get some tubey things in there, pop open your cervix and shoot some dye in your uterus cavity to make sure your uterus is good and to make sure your ovaries aren't blocked and then you leak the dye and blood.....although this takes all of about 10.3 seconds....it was the WORST.PAIN.EVER!!! i seriously almost passed out...and then i realized that if i can't take 10.3 seconds worth of pain, how the heck was i going to deliver a baby?? Tubes were great....and then i started to bleed a few days later and i was certain that that procedure just totally messed up my girls bits.... luckily, after some calls, it was totally normal to experience some spotting days after...
Here's a brief video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKf7dg1gamc
DH also had some fun tests.....the awesome SA (semen analysis). I don't know what it is about guys and squirting their junk in a cup, but it's painless!!! I had to endure great pain, cried the whole way home from the hospital in pain, cramping and all he had to do was do his thing in a cup..but nooooo...after my HSG i told him, it's his time to do his thing..:)
So, 3 SA's later, visit to the urologist and his results were low morphology (shape of the lil' swimmers)
Fall of 2009 we had a consultation with the fertility Dr and IVF was the way to go.... they gave us less then 1% chance of concieving on our own........ yeah, well, it's still a chance....right?
