"What's in a name?...

.....That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Juliet said that one time when talking about Romeo....

So, we had some 'name' issues earlier this month when i decided that the name we had thought was okay wasn't okay anymore. LOL My biggest issue with the name was that our daughter would have to spell and pronounce the name and i just didn't want her to have to do that all the time. The name is also important to DH, cuz it's his grandma who raised him til he was 18 yrs old....she passed in 2007. I have no problem what so ever using this name and i'm more then happy to help honor his grandma...i love love love using names that mean something...ya know. The middle name would be my mothers name.

So, i changed my mind, i wanted the first name to be the middle name and my mom's name the 1st name or at least a name that would reflect my mom in some way. So, DH was totally against it at first....there was NO compromising on his end, it HAD to be this name...ugh. So, i thought it was understood by both of us that the original name was not happening and that we needed to find a new name. Well, then the ultrasound happened and i was kinda hoping for a boy so that we didn't have to have this name battle.....but, why would i think anything would be easy....of course it would be a girl...LOL. Sooooooo, as DH was walking down the hallway at the Dr's office, he made a comment about oh, baby Tia(her nickname from the org. name) and i said, uh, maybe not.....which then sparked the name discussion.... and then my hormones went crazy and it was not good.....even i was taken aback with my hormonal outburst...lol. Anyways, we each relaxed a bit and talked about our thoughts and then agreed to just enjoy the day and that we're having a girl and we can discuss names later.....so that's what we did, we went out to celebrate and just enjoyed the fact that we are having a daughter.

So, then today i mentioned three names i would consider.....DH of course veto'd all of them right away...i think he thinks if he says no to my names, i'll come up with another one.....which at this point i probably won't.

Then we talked today and since we found out we were having a girl on St. Patty's day, and we were married the day after and have a dog named Clover and our neighborhood is named after Irish things, etc.... we weren't surprised we would find out the gender on St. Pat's day....so he suggested picking an Irish name....so i told him pick some and we can discuss.

So, we have narrowed it down to two.... both we found on an Irish name website and one was one that i mentioned this morning......so we're testing them out this weekend..... one step closer to picking a name for our daughter

  1. Ahhh... the name game!!! Why can't our hubbies just go along with what WE want??? lol
We have the same problem. We have agreed on a boy's name, but the girl's name is still up in the air. Since I am convinced we are having a boy, I told him I won't even discuss it anymore, and on the off chance this baby is a girl, we will name her in the hospital. ;)
    Good Luck with your decision!!!
